Edtech company Visang announced on Sept. 2 that it has completed the development of 'AI Speak 2.0,' a Korean language learning solution incorporating generative artificial intelligence (AI). The service is now scheduled to launch at the end of October on the ‘master k.’ online Korean language education platform.

‘AI Speak 2.0’ is an upgraded version of the existing ‘AI Speak’ feature that adds AI pronunciation evaluation and free conversation learning features. Visang customizes the AI’s conversational style by adjusting levels of formality—ranging from honorific to informal speech—expressions, and difficulty, using prompt engineering to meet the specific requirements of various Korean language education institutions.

The 'AI Speak 2.0’ significantly improved the recognition accuracy of non-native Korean pronunciation by learning the phonetic characteristics of various languages, allowing it to interpret foreign accents accurately.

For instance, if a Japanese speaker mispronounces “gamsahamnida(감사합니다)” which means "thank you," as” gamsahamunida(감사하무니다),” it is recognized as “gamsahamnida”. The AI recognizes the intended accent in context and responds accordingly, enhancing natural conversation flow. 'AI Speak 2.0’ can also learn industry-specific terminology for each field, such as agriculture, fishery, and shipbuilding, where Korean is used, enabling specialized training for each institution. Learners can efficiently practice through various AI conversation scenarios, including AI Unit Conversation, AI Topic Conversation, and AI Open Conversation.

Following the Korean version of the AI Speak 2.0, Visang is developing a prototype of the English version. The product will integrate the contents of ‘Wings,’ an early childhood English program, and ‘EliF,’ an elementary English program.

“To respond to the exponentially growing demand for Korean language education, we continue to enhance our global products by incorporating cutting-edge edtech such as AI,” said Paul Rho, head of Visang Education's global business division. ”We will continue to respond to the needs of universities, higher education institutions, and labor sites by installing AI Speak 2.0 on Visang's 'master k'platform, which has been exported to 12 countries worldwide. In particular, we will soon introduce a Korean free conversation feature tailored to the characteristics of industrial sites with foreign laborers, such as shipyards.”

Visang is accelerating its global expansion as it prepares to launch 'AI Speak 2.0.' In the year's first half, the company signed new contracts with companies in Vietnam, Turkiye, Singapore, Germany, the United States, Kazakhstan, and Malaysia. In the second half of the year, the company plans to showcase its AI Speak 2.0 at the BETT ASIA exhibition in Malaysia and roadshows in Vietnam, Japan, and Taiwan, focusing on establishing new partnerships.
